Self-Editing Guide is live!

It’s alive! Available now in Paperback or Ebook, Self-Editing Guide: A workbook for the DIY fiction author, is now available. Proof prints have been checked, and the “publish” button has been pushed. Just in time, I hope, for the NaNoWriMo authors all ready to dive into their manuscripts from November and turn them into their 2023 publishable books.

This book will take you through the first (five) steps of examining your story structurally and making sure all the necessary bones are there and the muscle has been built up to be the eye-catching story you wanted it to be. Learn how to:

  • Gain objective distance.
  • Reall the big elements of character and plot.
  • Recognize what is and is not on the page.
  • Edit the structure of your story.
  • Refine and strengthen point of view, tone, and voice.

Several years of leading writers workshops have led to this step-by-step plan for self-editing modeled on my own developmental editing process. I hope you find it helpful.
